Malala Yousafzai has tied the knot! During an Islamic ceremony in Birmingham, the 24-year-old human rights campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize winner married her lover. She uploaded a few photos from the day on social media, stating that it "marks a treasured day" in her life.
Asser and I exchanged vows to be life partners. We had a short "Nikkah" ceremony with our families at home in Birmingham. Please offer us your good wishes. The caption stated, "We are delighted to walk together for the trip ahead.
The feminist expressed her views on marriage in the July 2021 issue of British Vogue, saying,
I still don't understand why people have to get married. Why do you have to sign marriage papers if you just want someone in your life? Why can't it just be a partnership?
She replied: Don't you dare say anything like that! says, my mother. You must get married; marriage is lovely.
While she had reservations about the institution, it appears that she changed her opinion when the proper person came into her life. She was also quoted as saying to the source that witnessing her university friends marry opened her mind to the possibility of marriage. "I thought, 'I'm never going to get married, never going to have kids — I'm just going to do my work,' even until my second year of university." I'm going to be happy for the rest of my life and spend it with my family.
I had no idea you weren't the same person all of the time. You are changing and evolving as well.
